About Me

Sewing is one of my many creative jams. Having been raised by my maternal grandmother, sewing was her constant. She was a professional seamstress; In addition to making outfits for others she made all my clothes as well. She had a 1951 Singer 301 (slant shank) sewing machine which is now mine, and it was one of her most prized possessions.

With that being said, it was a "hands-off" to me when I was young. I remember pleading and begging when I was about 7 or 8 years old to use her sewing machine I wanted desperately to learn how to sew. Her response was, "Before you learn to use the sewing machine you must learn how to hand sew first." .That was how my sewing adventure began!

After my grandmother passed, I inherited many of her sewing notions: vintage buttons (some still on their cards), old metal zippers, various pieces of old lace, vintage ribbon, vintage sewing patterns, and much more. So whenever possible, I may try to incorporate some of these various sundries into my wares.

I have always have a love for other cultures , especially Japanese. I am also very fond of certain time periods in history, from late Victorian period up into the early 1930's. So many of the totes, purses, and pouches I offer are Japanese  influenced and I am hoping in time to create some styles of purses that will reflect my love of aforesaid time periods.
